Know Which Eight Items Every Elegant Woman Should Own to Create Your Perfect Wardrobe!

The Oxford dictionary defines elegance as: "the quality of being graceful and stylish in appearance or manner; style."
Notice how it did not define elegance as "fashion", but style.
Although I love fashion, I do not follow fashion trends. I have my own style which is unique and special to me. If I see another woman wearing something I like, I might say to myself, "How can I make that look my own?" Or, "I really like her outfit, because it compliments my personality and my own style of fasion." Remember, God made you special. You are unique and there is no one else like you, so wear yourself well!"
Elegance is not about being noticed, it's about being remembered." - Giorgio Armani.
In adition, clothes alone will never make us elegant. We have all heard the old saying from our mothers and elders, "It' s what's inside that counts." If you are an ugly person on the inside, no amount of fashion or clothes will make you beautiful. True beauty will always radiate from within.
Also, it's not how much you have, but what you have that matters. You might not believe me, but I can pack my entire wardrobe in just two bags: one suitcase and one carryone bag! With my wardbrobe that God has blessed me with, I can make well over 30 different outfits or more! How? (Well, that's for another blog post.)
But, the point is you don't need to have a closet full of clothes that you will probably never wear. Wouldn't it be more efficient and frugal to purchase the right type of clothing that you will wear?
So in saying that, I am going to share with you eight items that every elegant woman should own and if you follow this list, you will be able to pull together an impressive outfit for any occasion with limited or short notice.

Eight Items that Every Elegant Woman Should Own
The Little Black Dress: Come on now. Did you really think I was going to leave out the little black dress? Absolutely not! The little black dress will forever withstand the test of time. It is a necessity in every elegant woman's wardrobe. This one dress alone can take you from work to dinner; from a wedding to a funeral; from a coffee date with an old friend to a black-tie event with your husband. It can be dressed up or down. Wear heels and pearls for an elegant classic and formal look, or swap out the heels for a pair of flats or sandals and a denim jacket for an afternoon in the park. Accessorize it with various fancy hats, scarves, shawls, wraps, and costume jewelry for a different look each time you wear it. The possibilities are endless! I prefer to wear a classic and simple black sheath dress, because I strongly believe that "There is beauty is simplicity." But, like I have already said, choose a dress that is unique to you! This is the one item that you will definitely want to pack in your suitcase whenever you travel. Trust me, you will never be caught off guard if you own a little black dress.
Fitted Blazer: A well-fitted blazer is not only elegant but will also slim any figure and give you a well-polished look. Blazers can be mixed and matched with other basic items: sheath dresses, jeans, skirts, or whatever, depending on the event.

Skirt: Every elegant woman should own at least one skirt that can be mixed and matched with different blouses, sweaters, blazers, shawls, etc. An A-line skirt with a hem to the knee will flatter most figures. I think slender ladies look nice in pencil skirts, although anyone can wear one. If you are a full-figured gal, an a-line, a flare or a maxi skirt will look amazing on you!
Every figure can look elegant and beautiful in the right clothes. White blouse: A white blouse will instantly add a touch of elegance to any outfit, including jeans! For a nice silhouette, slect one that tapers in at the waist. Wrapped blouses are very elegant and can be worn with jeans or a skirt. Depending on your style, the weather, or the affair, you can select a white blouse made from various materials: lace, satin, cotton, etc. If the neckline is too low, wear a camisole underneath to stay elegant and modest.
A simple white blouse will bring a touch of elegance to any outfit. If you want something more elaborate you can select a white blouse with bows, lace, and pearl accents on it. Classic pair of black heels or pumps: Every elegant woman should have a basic pair of black heels or pumps in her wardrobe staple. They are versitile and can be worn on any occasion. You can dress up a pair of jeans with your white blouse and a pair of black pumps! If heels aren’t for you, pick a low kitten heel or an elegant pair of black flats.
Trench coat: A trench coat is a necessity in every elegant woman's wardrobe because of its exceptional versatility, practicality, and timeless design. It is suitable for a wide range of weather conditions and outfits, while still maintaining a classic and sophisticated look; essentially, it's a functional and stylish piece that can be dressed up or down for various occasions, making it an important staple in many wardrobes. And unlike heavier winter coats, the trench coat can be worn in inclement weather without overheating you. The timeless silhouette with features like wide lapels, a belt, and double-breasted closure addes a polished and elegant look to any outfit. The Black Lapel Double Breasted Trench Coat with Belt by Zapaka would make a nice addition to any elegant wardrobe.
A trench coat is lightweight and designed to shield against light rain and wind. It can be easily layered over various outfits, dressing them up or down, working well with both casual and formal attire. 7. Elegant handbag: Never shop just for a logo! Shop for quality and style! A woman's handbag reflects her personality and tells a lot about who she is as a person. This is true for shoes too. A nice quality handbag is not only elegant but it is also versatile. It can take you from work to dinner and can go with any outfit. I love leather handbags from Italy, because Italy has higher standards on their products and are not only ethical but are also usually byproducts of food, meaning they are cruelty free. If leather is not for you, opt for vegan leather or buy a nice canvas handbag instead.
A nice quality handbag that is both durable and versitile will make a nice addition to your elegant wardrobe. Dress gloves and pearls: Okay, I added an extra item in number eight, but I think it is imperative for every elegant woman to own at least one pair of pearl studs or a pearl necklace. Pearls can be worn on every occasion and will instantly give you a touch of elegance. And, you don't have to wear real pearls either. Imitation pearls are just fine. In fact, did you know that it is reported that Jackie Kennedy's pearls were fake? Who knew? If you aren't a pearl girl, that's okay too! Opt instead for diamond, silver, or gold studs. You will still have a nice elegant and well-polished look. Dress gloves can be purchased in various colors and fabrics to match your outfits or for to be worn in all kinds of weather and on different occasions. They, too, add a touch of elegance, sophistication, and class to any outfit.
Dress gloves and pearl or diamond studs is a must in every elegant woman's wardrobe. Pearls will add a touch of elegance while diamonds can add a touch of glamour! Additional tips!
Keep your nails well-groomed at all times. Nothing looks worse that a beautiful woman with scraggly nails. You don't need to be "high-maintenance" either. A clear polish does wonders for nails, especially at the last minute. It looks natural and feminine.
Have a signature scent: I personally think men expect beautiful and elegant women to always smell nice. I think when we walk past them, they look forward to seeing how we smell. This is just my personal opinion of course. But, don't wear it for anyone else, wear it for yourself. I personally feel so happy when I smell good even if I am home alone and not going anywhere for the day. A nice scent lifts my spirit and my mood. And your perfume is your signature. It should whisper something about you without you having to say a word. (I also don't like telling people what perfume I wear, because I don't want anyone else smelling like me!)
A tube of red lipstick: I was blessed enough to have been raised by my great grandmother who was the epitome of elegance. There were only four items in her cosmetic bag: hairpins, her signature perfume, an elegant powder compact with mirror, and a tube of red lipstick. When she dressed to go out, she would brush her fine hair back into an elegant bun and apply her lipstick. No other makeup was needed. She looked gorgeous. And I want you to know, there is a red lipstick for every skintone. You don't have to wear bright red lipstick to look classy and elegant. The right shade suited for your complexion will do the trick. If you don't like lipstick, then opt for a tinted lip balm instead, but put something on your lips. I found this chart below as a basic guide to finding your right shade of lipstick. I hope it helps you.
And the last thing I want to leave with you is this, “the most beautiful thing an elegant woman can wear is her smile.”
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. - Proverbs 31:25
